Through a mix of 1:1 coaching sessions with employees of partner companies, such as Capgemini, Personio, Deutsche Bank, Microsoft, and PageGroup, expert-led webinars, and in-person events like LinkedIn InDay at LinkedIn's Berlin office, learners gain the tools they need to succeed in the German-speaking job market. As part of the Wir Für Chancen initiative, more than 300 learners have also gained essential knowledge of artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance their job search and thrive in the workplace through the Boost Your Career with AI course.
From mastering AI basics and learning about salary negotiations to fine-tuning LinkedIn profiles, these opportunities offer learners a space to grow, connect, and build confidence. Below, three Kiron learners reflect on the Wir Für Chancen moments that stood out most for them.
A standout Wir Für Chancen moment for me was the Salary Negotiation webinar. It came at the perfect time, as I was actively searching for a job. After such a long and challenging job hunt, I was tempted to accept any offer without negotiating. But the session taught me how to advocate for myself confidently and professionally—something I truly needed.
Improving my personal brand has also been a focus. I had the chance to optimize my LinkedIn profile during the LinkedIn In Day event hosted at LinkedIn’s Berlin office. The workshop offered practical tips, and I even had a one-on-one session with a LinkedIn coach. On top of that, we got professional headshots—a small but powerful boost to my online presence.
I’m a professional in strategy and supply chain development. I've lived in Germany since the war in Ukraine began. During this time, I’ve learned the language to a necessary level for work and refined my skills for the local job market. I’m now looking to transition into sustainability, where I see a great match with my experience.
Having paused my job search for studies and integration efforts, attending the International Women’s Day event at the LinkedIn office was a refreshing and valuable experience. Until then, I had focused mostly on keywords for my LinkedIn profile, but the session helped me see the bigger picture—how recruiters evaluate profiles as a whole.
One of the best parts was simply connecting with others. Hearing different stories made me reflect more deeply on my own approach. I left with renewed focus and clear, actionable steps to improve my job search strategy.
I also came from Ukraine at the start of the war. My background is in policy analysis, with a focus on social policy, immigration, and demographic development. I was among the top specialists in my field in Ukraine, but my expertise is very country-specific. That has been my biggest challenge—figuring out how to apply my skills in Germany.
I bring strong leadership and soft skills from my previous role as head of a department. I’ve been learning German for over two and a half years, and now, with a C1 certificate, I’m focused on securing employment.
Before attending the International Women’s Day event at the LinkedIn office, I hadn’t updated my LinkedIn profile in five or six years! The event was a treasure trove of insights. One of the LinkedIn Coaches, Lars, provided personalized advice on how to strengthen my profile and even offered to share my job search announcement on his own page. That kind of personalized support is truly invaluable.
Wir Für Chancen continues to support people with a refugee or migrant background with access to knowledge and meaningful professional connections. Whether it’s learning to negotiate a fair salary, enhancing one’s digital presence, or reshaping a job search approach, these experiences are making a real difference in the career journeys of Kiron learners.
