THRIVE Afghanistan is an online learning and job-matching program for women. It consists of self-paced studying on Kiron Campus, interactive weekly online study sessions, live webinars, mentoring, and job-matching.
In addition to tailored career-relevant knowledge, participants gain English, digital, and soft skills for work.

The pilot in Afghanistan focused on English, digital skills, and e-commerce
THRIVE Afghanistan trained women from Kabul, Herat, Kunduz, Nangarhar, and Ghazni in career-relevant skills in the field of sales and digital marketing. We developed the program based on our experience from THRIVE 1.0 (Germany, Switzerland, and Austria).
Afghans face significant barriers to job readiness, including limited access to quality education, underfunded vocational systems, and gaps in digital and English literacy. For women and non-binary, social norms, mobility restrictions, and discrimination further hinder workforce entry.
The pilot attempt
Kiron promotes an entire community of learners
Throughout the pilot, the women showed remarkable motivation, sharing heartfelt feedback about the positive impact on their lives. Their female relatives often joined the online sessions, particularly the English classes, to learn together. This not only enriched the learning experience but also demonstrated strong community engagement and interest.
Planned re-start: May 2025
150+ on the waiting list
After the pilot, we have a waiting list of more than 150 potential participants for future program iterations. This reflects the program’s long-lasting impact and signals the need for such programs in the region.
